A BELOVED TRADITION RETURNS
Youth Art Month 2024 will be the inaugural show for the AMA’s new Community Gallery
What better way to debut our new Community Gallery than with a show celebrating the next generation of artists in our community? For 34 years, the Arlington Museum of Art has partnered with the Arlington Independent School District to host the city’s Youth Art Month show. This year, from March 30-May 3, works by students from over 70 AISD schools plus Duncanville ISD’s Central Elementary Digital Media and Performing Arts Academy will be showcased in Youth Art Month 2024.
YOUTH ART MONTH IS MARCH 30 – MAY 3
“The annual Youth Art Month show is an important partnership between the AMA and AISD, and a tradition cherished in our community,” said Chris Hightower, AMA President and CEO. “We envision our new Community Gallery as a space that can accommodate and grow with it. Our new partnership with Duncanville ISD is just the beginning.”
ADMISSION TO YOUTH ART MONTH IS FREE
“We love working with the children and their teachers,” said Vititia Williams, AMA Director of Education, “and Youth Art Month is such a long-standing tradition in Arlington that now we’re seeing kids whose parents participated in it when they were in school! I think the Community Gallery as the new home for Youth Art Month is going to blow everyone away.”
“It’s such an exciting time for the arts in Arlington, Texas! Arlington ISD is in great anticipation of having the annual Youth Art Month show coincide with the AMA’s grand opening exhibits Pompeii: The Immortal City and One Point Five Degrees. We’ve been truly blessed by this important partnership with the AMA for the past 34 years, and having the opportunity to showcase our students’ artwork in the new gallery space will be life-changing and transformative.”
– Linh Nguyen, AISD Assistant Director of Fine Arts

CELEBRATING DIVERSE TALENT, MAKING ART ACCESSIBLE TO ALL
From the onset, the AMA envisioned a space in our new building that is as much about community-building as visual arts. The Community Gallery speak to these values by providing a platform to showcase local talent and diverse perspectives. Additionally, to ensure accessibility for all, there will never be an admission charge for shows in the Community Gallery.
“In addition to Youth Art Month, we’ll leverage the Community Gallery throughout the year to host a variety of curated shows featuring art and artists from all walks of life,” said Chris Hightower. “It will allow us to highlight and celebrate the incredible diversity and artistic talent that makes our community and state so special.”
