World’s Richest Weekend in Western Sports to Host Over 700 Contestants Competing For Grand Money Prizes In Seven Western Events

WHAT: The 2021 RFD-TV American Rodeo, presented by Durango Boots, is returning for its eighth year featuring Slack and the Semi-Finals from February 25 – March 5, 2021, hosted inside the Cowtown Coliseum, located at the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. The American is now “the world’s richest weekend in Western Sports,” paying out $2.35 million to top rodeo athletes through a series of qualifiers around the country, Semi-Finals, and the final event, RFD-TV’s The American Rodeo at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on March 6 and 7. 

Prior to the main event, the American Rodeo Semi-Finals will be held at the Cowtown Coliseum, located inside the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards, from February 25 to March 5, 2021 and will host approximately 700 contestants competing in seven western skills including barrel racing, breakaway roping, rough stock, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, team roping, and tie-down roping. Any contestant who advances to The American and out-rides or out-ropes the sport’s superstars is eligible for an additional $1 million bonus. In addition to the competition inside Cowtown Coliseum, fans will be able to enjoy the FanZone in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards featuring live music,  demonstrations, food trucks, and the below:

    • Slack – February 25-March 2, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily

    • Semi Finals – March 3-5, 6 p.m.

    • Cowtown Coliseum

    • An 11-day rodeo competition that kicks its eighth year in the historic Cowtown Coliseum

  • Cowtown Marketplace in the Stockyards: 

    • February 25-March 7, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily

    • Mule Alley | Exchange Lawn

    • Enjoy exhibits featuring Texas-made goods, arts and crafts, and one-of-a-kind finds.

  • The American Rodeo Tailgate Party:

    • February 25-March 6

Stockyards Heritage Development Co. is a partnership between nationally recognized developer Majestic Realty Co. and Fort Worth’s Hickman Investments. Created with the intention of thoughtfully reimagining the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, the company is dedicated to preserving the National Historic District legacy while elevating it with experiences for locals and visitors from abroad.
