Texas Ballet Theater 2021-2022 Season

Texas Ballet Theater 2021-2022 Season

Texas Ballet Theater (TBT) will return to its resident performance venues in the 2021-2022 season, starting with the holiday favorite The Nutcracker.

The nonprofit ballet company will open its season with The Nutcracker, choreographed by TBT Artistic Director Ben Stevenson, O.B.E., at Winspear Opera House in Dallas November 26. The production will run in Dallas through December 5, then move to Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth December 10-26.

For one night only, the company will trade tradition for whimsy in the December 17 performance of The Nutty Nutcracker at Bass Performance Hall. This annual parody features zany characters and pop culture moments woven into the conventional Nutcracker story.

Next, TBT dancers will perform A Tchaikovsky Evening, a mixed repertoire production featuring George Balanchine’s iconic Serenade and two world premieres – Star Crossed by Stevenson and Violin Concerto in D by TBT Associate Artistic Director Tim O’Keefe. A Tchaikovsky Evening will run February 11-13 at the Wyly Theatre in Dallas and February 18-20 at Bass Performance Hall.

The company will close its season with the world premiere of Stevenson’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, running May 6-8 at Winspear Opera House and May 20-22 at Bass Performance Hall. Audiences will finally see the long-awaited premiere, originally scheduled to close the 19-20 season.

“With a return to the stage and three world premieres, this may be Texas Ballet Theater’s most thrilling season yet,” Stevenson said. “Our dancers are looking forward to performing again, and we can’t wait to welcome both familiar and new friends into the audience.”

Patrons can purchase season package subscriptions now by visiting https://texasballettheater.org/season-packages or calling the Box Office at 877-828-9200 option 1. Single tickets go on sale August 2.

Blake Shelton Is Coming to Dickies Arena!

Blake Shelton Is Coming to Dickies Arena!

Blake Shelton Brings “Friends and Heroes” 2021 Tour to Dickies Arena, September 25th.

Country music superstar Blake Shelton will make his long-anticipated return to the road alongside his friends and heroes beginning August 18. The boot-stomping, hit-making, arena-selling entertainer will visit 16 cities for a 17-date run, including a stop at Nashville’s own Bridgestone Arena and a two-night residency in Washington, D.C. “Friends and Heroes 2021” will welcome very special guest Lindsay Ell, with special appearances by Martina McBride, Tracy Byrd and Trace Adkins.

The tour stops at Dickies Arena on Saturday, Sept. 25.

“A little over a year ago when the world shut down and we had to postpone the tour, I was already in Omaha getting ready for the show that night,” Shelton said. “I told you we would be back, and I’m thrilled to say we are kicking off the Friends and Heroes 2021 Tour in Omaha. I’m giving everybody in every city plenty of notice – you might as well tell your boss you’re gonna be late to work the next day and pay that babysitter overtime, because we are going to play some country music for y’all until they turn on the lights. And that might not stop us! I’m excited to welcome Martina McBride, Tracy Byrd, Trace Adkins and my very special guest Lindsay Ell to the Friends and Heroes 2021 Tour… see you there!”

Rescheduled dates from the 2020 run will honor previously purchased tickets, and additional tickets currently on sale (see below for more information). All new dates will go on sale Thursday, June 10 at 10:00am local time. Visit https://www.blakeshelton.com/ for links to buy. “Friends And Heroes 2021” will abide by all local and venue COVID-19 policies.

Shelton’s tour announcement comes ahead of his Body Language launch this Friday, May 21. The 12-track studio album includes his 28th career No.1 smash “Happy Anywhere” (with Gwen Stefani) and current Top 15 and climbing single “Minimum Wage.” Fans who pre-order the album HERE will instantly receive a download of the two tracks as well as brand new ballad “Bible Verses” (LISTEN HERE).

On 5/26 he will stop by The Kelly Clarkson Show (check HERE for local listings), with more to come! These visits follow recent appearances on the 56th ACM Awards (WATCH HERE) and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (WATCH HERE).

Over the past 20 years since Shelton’s career launched, he has cemented his place in country music history with more than 8.5 billion global on-demand streams, 11 million career album U.S. sales and award wins approaching the hundreds – all of which began with his debut single “Austin.” In April, Shelton celebrated the track’s 20th anniversary with a performance on the 56th ACM Awards (HERE) and a pre-order for a limited edition 7” “Austin” vinyl on his website (HERE).

Beyond his country music career, the multimedia entertainer has earned widespread recognition as a seven-time champion coach for the Emmy Award-winning television show The Voice. The NBC singing competition is currently in its 20th season. Shelton, a long-time Grand Ole Opry member, has also found success in his Ole Red partnership with Ryman Hospitality, with restaurant and venue locations currently in Tishomingo, Nashville, Gatlinburg and Orlando.

ABOUT BLAKE SHELTON
Blake Shelton continues to add to his superstar status with his new album Body Language, due May 21. The album’s flagship single “Happy Anywhere” (featuring Gwen Stefani) topped the Country Digital Song Sales chart, also marking his 28th No. 1 on the country airplay charts. Now he’s building upon the message that it doesn’t matter what you have or where you are if you have love with his latest hit “Minimum Wage,” currently Top 15 on the country charts. Both tunes follow the Platinum-selling, multi-week No.1 “Nobody But You,” which has now topped 240 million streams. “Nobody But You” made its TV debut on the 62nd GRAMMY Awards, where Shelton was also nominated for Best Country Solo Performance for his smash “God’s Country.” The 4x Platinum smash earned the 2019 CMA Award and 2020 ACM Award for Single of the Year. “God’s Country” and “Nobody But You” are featured on Fully Loaded: God’s Country, Shelton’s seventh album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart.

As a coach for the Emmy Award-winning television show The Voice, Shelton is a seven-time champion, most recently with his contestant Todd Tilghman. The Grand Ole Opry member also remains focused on his Ole Red partnership with Ryman Hospitality, with locations currently in Tishomingo, Nashville, Gatlinburg and Orlando. With awards wins nearing the hundreds, Shelton remains a force in the industry with ACM (5), AMA (3), CMA (10), CMT (11) and People’s Choice Awards (6), among many others.

ABOUT LINDSAY ELL
Lauded as “one of the most exciting and talented young artists in country music” (Forbes), Lindsay Ell is a triple threat: accomplished musician, unique vocalist and awe-inspiring songwriter. The Calgary native learned to play guitar while traveling with her father to country-bluegrass camps as a young girl. Ell honed her craft as a musical stylist and songwriter after being discovered by BTO and The Guess Who’s Randy Bachman (“American Woman” / “Taking Care of Business”) who discovered her at the age of 13. The multi-instrumentalist was soon touring alongside the likes of Luke Bryan, Buddy Guy, and Keith Urban. Ell also shared the stage with distinguished country group, Little Big Town, along with other powerhouse female artists in one the biggest moments of the 2019 CMA Awards where she was also nominated for Musical Event of the Year. Ell’s nominations do not stop there. She has been nominated for New Female Artist of the Year in both 2019 and 2020, in addition to her 2020 ACM nomination of Music Event of the Year. Ell also won 2020 CCMA Interactive Artist or Group of the Year for the second year in a row. These wins and nominations are well earned after Ell exhilarated audiences as part of Keith Urban’s Graffiti U World Tour, Brantley Gilbert’s Not Like Us Tour, and Brad Paisley’s Weekend Warrior World Tour. Ell’s first full-length album The Project debuted at No. 1 on the Country Album Sales Chart and was named Billboard’s “Best Country Album of 2017. “What Happens In a Small Town,” Lindsay’s duet with Brantley Gilbert, claimed the top spot at country radio, marking her first No. 1 in the US. She has two No. 1 singles under her belt in Canada. Her new single “wAnt me back” is out now from her critically-acclaimed sophomore album, heart theory. Lynyrd Skynyrd is Coming to Billy Bob’s!

Lynyrd Skynyrd is Coming to Billy Bob’s!

Legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, is the latest act to be added to the star-studded concert roster at the World’s Largest Honky Tonk. The band will headline Billy Bob’s Texas on June 18 & 19. These shows will be following the world-famous Honky Tonk’s 40th anniversary celebration spanning the month of April.

In 2018, Southern Rock icons, Lynyrd Skynyrd, announced that, after a career that has spanned more than 40 years and includes a catalog of more than 60 albums with more than 30 million units sold, they would embark on their Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour. Produced by Live Nation, the career-concluding farewell tour logged over 50 stops by the end of 2018.

In 2019 Johnny Van Zant, Gary Rossington, and Rickey Medlocke sat down with Dan Rather for a candid conversation on The Big Interviewduring the first leg of their farewell tour. Reflecting on Lynyrd Skynyrd’s enduring legacy and their fans around the world, Rossington told Rather, “It takes a long time to finish a farewell tour when you’re like us, ‘cause we’ve played everywhere… I keep jokin’ it’d take ten years to do the farewell tour.”

However, like many things since COVID hit last year, their Farewell tour has been put on pause. Lead singer, Johnny Van Zant said, ‘this past year has been very difficult on so many people, including us and our families. I think you realize once something is taken away from you, you truly realize how important it is and such a part of your life.’

Original member and guitarist Gary Rossington added, ‘you know, we were in the last part of the Farewell Tour when COVID turned our world upside down. And since that time, we have been talking amongst the band, and realized that music has such a way of healing. Maybe it’s not our time to go? And maybe it’s our time to lift people’s spirits and lives and bring back some joy and happiness after so much turmoil this past year. This country and the world have been through a lot this past year with COVID. We’re still standing, still keeping the music going. We want to do the guys who aren’t with us any more proud, and keep the name proud, too.

The legendary rockers are best known for the RIAA Platinum-certified “Sweet Home Alabama” and self-proclaimed signature song, “Free Bird,” that Rolling Stone said was “easily the most requested live song in existence.” With everlasting hits such as “Simple Man,” “Gimme Three Steps,” “What’s Your Name,” “Call Me The Breeze,” “You Got that Right,” and more, it is easy to see why Rolling Stone named Lynyrd Skynyrd one of its 100 Greatest Bands of All Time.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band that USA Today called the “whiskey-soaked genre’s most popular and influential crew,” is ready to return to live music and rock Billy Bob’s for the first time as a band. Original member Gary Rossington will be joined by Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington, and Carol Chase.

This will be Lynyrd Skynyrd’s first show at Billy Bob’s Texas. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, April 16th at 10 AM and can be purchased online at billybobstexas.com or by phone at 817-624-7117.

Tickets: $150-200 Reserved Seats / $50 General Admission

Celebrate Earth Week with FWMSH

MUSEUM CONNECTS COMMUNITY TO THE 51ST ANNIVERSARY OF EARTH DAY WITH A FULL WEEK OF EARTH-THEMED PROGRAMMING

The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History invites you to celebrate Earth Week by learning about the world around you! The Museum will bring together educators, scientists, and local partners to celebrate Earth Week, providing hands-on experiments, live demonstrations, and interactive lessons.

“Earth Week gives people all over the world a time to think about how we all do our part to take care of the planet,” said Dr. Doug Roberts, the Museum’s Chief Public Engagement Officer.

From April 19 – April 25, participants will be able to learn all about the environment through a series of pre-recorded Earth-themed videos, engage with live events on the Museum’s Facebook page, and compete in the Museum’s first-ever Earth Week Scavenger Hunt for a chance to win prizes from the Museum, Tarrant Regional Water District, and other local partners.

Here are just a few of the experiences planned for Earth Week:

  • Bob the Turtle: Learn all about this legendary snapping turtle that is the unofficial mascot of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.
  • Lights Out Texas: Find out how dimming the lights in our largest cities helps migrating birds stay on the correct path.
  • Snakes: These fascinating animals frequently get a bad reputation. Learn why snakes are an important part of our environment and help keep things in a healthy balance.
  • Birdwatching and Feeding: Presented by Log Cabin Village
  • Earth Week Scavenger Hunt in partnership with Tarrant Regional Water District
  • A collection of pre-recorded videos created by the Museum’s education team and local students.
  • And more!
