Anna Caplan is a Fort Worth freelance critic who has contributed reviews and news to the Star-Telegram since 2009. Here are her top picks for the area’s best food-oriented happy hours.

With beer at $5, cocktails for $7 and reserve wine $9, the drinks are a steal at Fixe, but the best deal may be the $8 plates. From Jack’s Salad (crispy chicken skin, pear and gouda) to the outrageously good burger (more Fixe sauce, please) and fries, park yourself on the patio here from 4:30–7pm, Monday through Saturday. 5282 Marathon Ave. (Clearfork), Fort Worth 76109, 682-707-3965

Half-priced appetizers (that fritto misto!) and pizza, plus drinks starting at $3 (wells, bellinis, house wine and draft beers); 4¬–7pm Monday through Friday. 450 Throckmorton St., Fort Worth 76102, 817-885-7502

Wild Salsa

Wild Hour, every day from 3PM to 7PM plus Fridays and Saturdays from 9pm to close, features $9 tacquitos (chicken tinga!) and plentiful queso options. 300 Throckmorton St., 76102, 682-316-3230

B&B Butchers

With a vastly discounted menu during Happy Hour—er, make that Booze & Bites Social Hour, Monday–Friday from 3–6pm—the selection of tasty treats is seemingly endless. Hovering in the $8–$21 range, items include charcuterie boards, mini beef Wellingtons and fried oyster sliders. And the champagne starts at $10. 5212 Marathon Ave. (Clearfork), Fort Worth 76109, 817-737-5212

Little Red Wasp

From 4–6pm daily, expect $5 starters as well as $5 wells and drafts. The chips are house made and the popcorn shrimp is “to-die.” 808 Main St., Fort Worth 76102, 817-877-3111

Eddie V’s Prime Seafood

Lamb lollipops, filet mignon and oysters on the half shell are all part of one of the area’s most decadent happy hours. Tuesday–Saturday, it happens from 4–7pm; Sunday 4–10pm; and Monday 4–11pm. 3100 W. 7th St. Fort Worth, 76107, 817-336-8000

Cane Rosso

From 5–7pm Mondays through Thursdays, you can get $5–$7 pizzas, appetizers, wine and cocktails. Go Tuesdays and stay for a Heimy Bastard pizza, made with Heim Barbecue bacon burnt ends. You won’t be sorry. 815 W. Magnolia Ave., Fort Worth 76104, 817-922-9222

Bird Café

With food under $7 plus a $7 Beer of the Day, this downtown mainstay hits high notes every weekday from 4–7pm. Bacon-cured nuts and house made hummus never sounded so good. 155 E. 4th St., Fort Worth 76102, 817-332-2473

Pacific Table

From 4–6pm Mondays through Thursdays, the seafood is fresh, delicious and discounted at this beloved University Park Village haunt. Happy Hour wines are $6—and so are hand rolls. Oysters clock in at $18 for a dozen—not too shabby—while the calamari and Pacific Dip are $7. 1600 S. University Drive, Fort Worth 76107, 817-887-9995
