Whiskey or Beer…Never Fear!

Make it easy on yourself and on Dad.  Year In, Year Out, it’s never a bad idea to take Dad to one of the great local breweries on the Fort Worth Ale Trail.  If you think he needs something a little stronger, there is no shortage of distilleries in and around Fort Worth.

And if he absolutely has to do something with a little more activity to it, we have some ideas for that too!

What’s Up Fort Worth invites you to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with your favorite margarita in your hand.. Maybe it will be at one of these great Fort Worth restaurants or bars.

Tenille Townes Joins as Special Guest

Texas’s own George Strait has announced a two-nights-only event in his home state, with back-to-back concerts set for Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena. The King of Country Music will be joined by special guest Tenille Townes for both dates.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, May 13 at 10 a.m. CT via Ticketmaster.com. American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Wednesday, May 4 at 10 a.m. CT through Thursday, May 12 at 10 p.m. CT.

Since his record-breaking Cowboy Rides Away Tour in 2014, Strait has performed for limited engagements, including appearances in 2021 headlining both weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival as well as Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium. He also extended his Strait to Vegas series at T-Mobile Arena earlier this year and recently performed a one-night Strait to the Natural State show at Little Rock’s Simmons Bank Arena before returning to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for his 31st performance at the event.

With an unmatched 60 singles hitting the top of the charts—more than any other artist in any genre—during the span of his 30+ year career, Strait has collected 33 Platinum or multi-Platinum-selling albums, more than any other Country artist and ranking third across all genres behind The Beatles and Elvis Presley. The Texas troubadour is the only artist or act in history to have a Top 10 hit every year for over three decades and recently earned his 100th entry on the Billboard Country Airplay chart with his latest single, “The Weight of the Badge.” He has sold nearly 70 million albums and earned more than 60 major entertainment industry awards, including induction in the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

5.  Enjoy a Winery Tour and a Glass of Wine with Mom

Cowtown Winery, located on Mule Alley in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards,  offers a  sneak peek behind the scenes at Cowtown Winery! See how it all happens and let the wine maker walk you through a journey of turning juice from the grape into your favorite wine! You will see all the equipment, learn the different processes it takes, discuss the vineyards and of course sample a couple of wines. With the tour you will receive a souvenir wine glass and two glasses of wine. Cowtown Winery offers tours on select Saturdays at 3:00 pm

https://www.cowtownwinery.com/winery-tours-index#winery-tours

6. Indulge in Some Retail Therapy with Mom

Every mom has “a thing” or favorite store.  Treat your mom to an afternoon of safe, social distanced shopping and buy her something nice, something she would not have bought for herself.   Be safe and Buy Local.  That makes Mom happy and keeps the Fort retail wheels turning.  #Support Our Fort.  We love supporting Fort Worth businesses so that’s always a Bonus.  A good day of shopping is always followed by a good glass of wine at your favorite spot.   See #5!

7. Host Your Own SIP and PAINT Class

Bring some creative fun home by buying some art supplies and opening a bottle of your finest Cab. Pick a subject (like the fruit bowl on your kitchen counter or Dad lounging on the sofa) and start painting. Just don’t expect  Mom to hang your work of art in the living room?  Don’t like the PAINT part of this idea, no problem…..Host Your Own Sip and Sit with Mom.  How’s that?

8. Give Mom a Mani-Pedi

Treat Mom to a little pampering to encourage mother-daughter bonding. You’re out with Mom and  pampering her (and yourself).  Doesn’t that feel good?

9. GARDEN TOGETHER

Stop by your favorite garden center, back to #Support the Fort, and plan a day of gardening with Mom.  It can be as intense or light as you want.  It might end up with a nice Sip and Sit with Mom on the back porch…and that’s always a good thing!

10. Adopt an African Penguin for Mom

Celebrate Mom all year long with an African penguin adoption from the Fort Worth Zoo. This adoption includes an African penguin plush, a personalized adoption certificate, an animal fact sheet, a coloring kit and a zoo publication all packaged inside of an animal carrier box! This unique gift is the perfect way to show your appreciation for Mom while supporting the care and feeding of the animals at the Fort Worth Zoo.

https://www.fortworthzoo.org/mothers-day-adoption-package

11.  Plan a Game Night for Mom

You know what games Mom likes to play—card games, board games, charades, or any other party game.  If Mom likes it, let’s play it!

12.  No Work Pass

OK this should be a given.  Moms do not work on Mother’s Day.  If your mom tries to participate in work activities,  present her with a “No Work Pass” for the day.  Sit her down and take over.

13. Custom Coupons for Mom

Put  a coupon book together for things that you  and Mom can do together, for her day and for the next few months.  Can you ever spend enough time with Mom?   Ideas are easy—lunch and a movie, a wine outing or Happy Hour, a spa day.  The list is endless and it gives Mom lots more things to look forward to.
