FROM DILAPIDATED TO REJUVENATED: HISTORIC THEATER IN FORT WORTH STOCKYARDS OFFICIALLY OPENS ITS DOORS TO AUDIENCES AFTER 30 YEARS

Newly renovated Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theater announces its first live family-friendly event

(Fort Worth, TX, May 11, 2021) — Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theater is thrilled to finally announce its official opening with the first live performance in the revived space. The historic venue will open its doors to renewed life on Memorial Weekend.

The Isis theater, which first opened in 1915, has sat vacant in the Fort Worth Stockyards since 1988. Now opening as Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theater, the newly renovated venue preserves the original theater’s rich history and welcomes audiences to discover its unique character and historical eminence. The new Downtown Cowtown will meet the Fort Worth Stockyards with authenticity while providing something special for everyone.

“The COVID-19 pandemic forced entertainment venues everywhere to shut down. As concerns begin to subside, people are eager to get out,” says founder Jeffrey Smith. “We feel fortunate to have this opportunity to open at what feels like the right time to give the community a chance to enjoy public outings. We expect to continuously provide patrons with quality entertainment, a unique and engaging environment, and a connection to the rich heritage of Fort Worth.”

Guests can look forward to a wide variety of family-friendly entertainment, with classic western movies by day, and live performances of all types by night. Tickets for all scheduled live events are available now and can be purchased online through www.downtowncowtown.com.

Current Covid safety measures:

● Temperature checks will be taken at point of entry.

● Masks are suggested for moving about the theater but may be removed once seated.

● Hand sanitizer will be provided in multiple locations.

About Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theater

Located in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, the newly renovated Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theater engages guests with a variety of unique, quality entertainment.

Formerly the Isis Theater, the venue originally opened in 1915 as a single screen movie theater featuring silent films with live piano accompaniment. After a fire in 1935, the theater was rebuilt into one of the largest movie screen theaters in Fort Worth. The theater closed its doors in 1988 and the building sat vacant for 30+ years until its rebirth in 2021.

Now, Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theater gives new, vibrant life to the space. This 500-seat multipurpose venue boasts a private event area, a VIP room, a family-friendly bar, and a gift shop. Preserving 106 years of historical significance, the theater gives audiences an opportunity to revel in its unique character and artifacts that transport them back in time.

Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theater strengthens its historic neighborhood by providing visitors one-of-a-kind experiences that entertain, inspire, and reflect the community. For additional information, visit www.downtowncowtown.com, call 817-437-3649, or follow on Facebook and Instagram.

Mule Alley Welcomes Flea Style in Fall 2021

Mule Alley Welcomes Flea Style in Fall 2021

FORT WORTH, TEXAS  (July 26, 2021) – The historic Fort Worth Stockyards is pleased to announce retail emporium Flea Style will be expanding with a store opening in Mule Alley in fall 2021. Known for supporting unique style and small businesses, the Mule Alley location of Flea Style will offer a similar experience for shoppers, including retail items such as local goods, artisan clothing, jewelry, home decor, custom hats, and western-influenced pieces for the local customer.

Originally an outdoor pop-up flea market called The Dallas Flea founded by Brittany Cobb in 2009, Flea Style will open its third retail store in Mule Alley featuring custom collaborations between makers, rare finds that Cobb sources around the globe, including clothing, jewelry, home decor, hats, and unique western wear.

“We’re so excited to expand to Cowtown,” says Brittany Cobb, CEO and founder, who sprinkles her personal flea market finds throughout the stores monthly. “With the success of our Wide Brim concept store in Hotel Drover and our Stetson hat collection, we know Mule Alley is the perfect location to bring our retail and restaurant brands and cannot wait to swing open our doors.”

The 3,400-square-foot space will also house their biggest hat bar to date, slinging their private label Stetson collection as well as colorful vegan options and a huge assortment of unique accents for customers to make bespoke hats. A mini version of their full-fledged restaurant Heirloom Haul will also sit inside offering specialty sips such as their best-selling frosé and signature lattes for guests to enjoy in-store or while walking around the Mule Alley district.

“Flea Style completes our tenant mix of western wear brands that are available at Mule Alley and cements our status as the only place that visitors can find an unparalleled, curated retail experience,” says Fort Worth Heritage Development Co. Team Leader Design and Development Kayla Wilkie. “Flea Style customers travel far and wide to experience Cobb’s unique mix, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to offer that to Fort Worth locals and Stockyards tourists alike.”

Flea Style will join Mule Alley’s open tenants, including Marriott Autograph Collection resort Hotel Drover, Provender Hall, Sidesaddle Saloon, Shake Shack, Lucchese Bootmaker, American Paint Horse Association’s flagship experience, Biscuit Bar, Cowtown Winery, Wrangler, King Ranch Saddle Shop, Proper Supply Co., and Simpli.fi national headquarters. Mule Alley will soon welcome additional retail and restaurants, including Second Rodeo Brewing Co., Avoca Coffee, two new restaurant concepts from Chef Tim Love, and MELT Ice Creams.

Flea Style is located at 128 E Exchange Ave and will be open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, please visit fleastyle.com and follow on Instagram @fleastyle.

Rediscover The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History this Summer

Rediscover The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History this Summer

Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is set to reopen to the public in June

Fort Worth, TX (May 11, 2021) — The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is excited to announce its reopening to the public on Friday, June 25. The Museum closed its doors for several months in 2020 and 2021 in response to guidance from local, state, and federal health officials, and has remained closed through the Spring due to extensive water damage from the winter storms in February.

Museum staff is excited to unveil several new and reimagined experiences that they have been working on throughout the closure.

This June, the Museum will launch the Current Science Studio, a brand-new 2,500 square-foot exhibit sponsored by a $255,000 grant from Facebook. Anchoring the new exhibit space will be Science On a Sphere® (SOS), a giant global display system suspended from the ceiling developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

In addition to the Current Science Studio, the Museum will reopen the Children’s Museum, Noble Planetarium, Cattle Raisers Museum, DinoLabs, DinoDig®, and the Heritage Gallery. The Omni Theater, however, will remain closed indefinitely.

Reopening Schedule

Following the public reopening, the Museum will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 AM – 5 PM and Sunday from Noon – 5 PM, reserving the weekdays for the Museum’s Little Scholars Program.

The Museum continues to take safety seriously. To protect the health of visitors and staff, the Museum will reopen in accordance with current public health and safety guidelines. Visit the Museum’s website to learn about the Museum’s updated health and safety protocols for reopening.

Who needs Uber and Lyft? The Fort has ZipZone!

Who needs Uber and Lyft? The Fort has ZipZone!

By Malcolm Mayhew

There are now more zones in the ZIPZONE.

Trinity Metro recently announced it has expanded the coverage areas of its burgeoning rideshare program. In addition to the Near Southside, ZIPZONE riders can now be zipped in between locations in the TCU area, the Fort Worth Zoo and the entertainment district along the West 7th corridor, including Crockett Row and Montgomery Plaza

Formerly known as the Near Southside ZIPZONE, the rideshare service will continue to include access to the hospitals and facilities within the Medical District and popular destinations along Magnolia Avenue, plus grocery stores and other businesses throughout the south side.

Riders get zipped around in black luxury vans. Emblazoned with the word “ZIPZONE,” they’re hard to miss

Launched by Trinity Metro last year, ZIPZONE is an on-demand rideshare program that offers riders a local alternative to Lyft and Uber. It works in a similar way: Users download the ZIPZONE app onto their smart phones, add a credit or debit card for payment, then select their destination.

Unlike Lyft and Uber, whose rates fluctuate, fares are a flat $3 per person per ride. Rides are limited to trips between designated “zones,” such as the Fort Worth Zoo and the Near Southside.

The service is ideal for early risers and night owls alike, operating 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday and 6:00 a.m. to midnight Thursday-Saturday.

Day, week and monthly passes are available, too, and if you’re planning on doing a lot of zipping, they’re a good bargain. Unlimited ride passes are $5 a day. A seven-day pass is $25. A 31-day pass is $80. Bonus perk: All three passes are good for unlimited rides and transfers between TEXRail, Trinity Metro bus routes and TRE’s west zone.

Riders are asked to follow COVID-related guidelines, including wearing a mask or face covering for the duration of their rides; washing or sanitizing hands before touching door handles; maintaining social distancing guidelines by riding in the backseats of vehicles; and staying home if they’ve tested positive for COVID-19 or are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

For a limited time, Trinity Metro is offering two free rides to new users with the promo code FTWWEB

ZIPZONE rides are also available in Crowley, Alliance Airport and north Fort Worth. For rides in those areas, please visit ridetrinitymetro.org or call 817-215-8600.

Celebrate World Whisky Day in the Fort

Celebrate World Whisky Day in the Fort

FORT WORTH DISTILLERIES

Convert a beautiful golf course with panaromic views of downtown Fort Worth,  Select a tiny corner of downtown Fort Worth with a questionable history, known as Hell’s Half Acre, Throw in a historic building with some…Yes, black-eyed peas with a West Texas down on his luck farmer, Then head east a bit to another historic landmark with Ranch Style Beans heritage and lots of Texas rainwater, and Wrap it up with a hipster bar and unique Texas grains in The Foundry District…and you have a glimpse of the Distillery scene in Cowtown.

Pay homage to World Whisky Day in Fort Worth (Saturday, May 15th) by ordering your favorite libation with whiskey from a local distillery.  Cheers!
