Butterflies in the Garden returns March 1-April 30\, 2026\, for a new season of natural beauty and wonder. Thanks to our friends at Central Market\, we’re transforming the Rainforest Conservatory into a living kaleidoscope where thousands of butterflies will be your guide through a tropical paradise.\nWhat can you expect? A conservatory full of showstoppers! The Blue Morpho (Morpho helenor peleides) might just be the most Instagram-worthy butterfly you’ll ever see—its wings flash electric blue as it flies. Then there’s the Atlas Moth (Attacus atlas sp.)\, one of the largest moths in the world with a wingspan that can reach nearly a foot across! These gentle giants are absolutely stunning up close\, but they’re also masters of camouflage using wing patterns that mimic a snake’s head to startle predators and slip away unharmed.\nBehind all this butterfly magic is lepidopterist Dr. Lucy Milas and her team\, who ensure every butterfly is healthy\, happy\, and ready for their close-up each day. Guests can enjoy two butterfly releases each day and meet spectacular species from around the world along with some of our own beloved Texas natives.\n\nPlan Your Visit\nButterflies in the Garden is open every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are available now at fwbg.org\, and we recommend booking your timed-entry slot in advance—weekends and spring break fill up fast!\nSave money by purchasing your tickets online in advance. Below are the discounted rates available exclusively through our website. Please note that tickets purchased onsite will be priced higher.\n\n\nAdults (16-64): $12\n\n\nSeniors (65+): $10\n\n\nChildren (6-15): $8\n\n\nLittle ones (2 and under): Free\n\n\nCombo deal (Butterflies + Full Garden Access): $22 adults\, $20 seniors\, $12 children\n\n\n\nWhether you’re a nature enthusiast\, looking for the perfect family outing\, or just need a beautiful break from the everyday hustle and bustle\, Butterflies in the Garden offers an unforgettable experience. SUMMARY:Architecture Week at The Modern
DESCRIPTION:The Modern Art Museum\, in partnership with the American Institute of Architects Fort Worth\, proudly celebrates Architecture Week (April 12–18) with a series of special events\, including exclusive film screenings\, guided architecture tours\, and a hands-on family program\, Box City. \nFamily Program: Box City \nA Hands-On Celebration of Architecture Week \nFriday\, April 17 from 5–8 pm \nSaturday\, April 18 from 10 am–5 pm \nModern Grand Lobby and Education Studio \nFree admission | All materials provided \nJoin AIA Fort Worth and the Modern for an engaging\, family-friendly celebration of Architecture Week with Box City! This interactive workshop\, led by members and educators of AIA Fort Worth along with architects Ashleigh Hood and Claire Kennedy\, invites children and families to explore the principles of architecture and urban design through creative play and sculptural building. \nParticipants will begin by learning from Ashleigh Hood about architectural concepts\, city planning\, design principles\, and the roles of permits and building functions within a community. Guided by this foundation and under Claire Kennedy’s creative direction\, participants will then use predominantly recycled materials to design and construct their own sculptural\, “officially permitted” buildings\, contributing to a collaborative miniature sculptural city installed in the Grand Lobby. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their own boxes—such as shipping\, shoe\, or cereal boxes—to transform into buildings\, though materials will also be provided. The layout of Box City\, inspired by a special painting in the Modern’s permanent collection\, will come to life on a large-scale\, pre-painted canvas serving as the city grid and vibrant foundation for the collaborative creation. Additionally\, a public park will be incorporated into the city layout\, where guests will have the opportunity to design small sculptures that will contribute to a public art installation within the cityscape. \nPerfect for all ages\, this hands-on program fosters creativity\, teamwork\, and a deeper appreciation for the built environment. Drop in anytime and help build a sculptural city! The completed Box City will remain on display in the Grand Lobby through the end of the day on Sunday\, April 19. \nSpecial Architecture Tours \nMeet in the Modern’s Grand Lobby \nIncluded with gallery admission \nFriday\, April 17; 4 pm – Light and Space \nSaturday\, April 18; 3 pm – Inside/Outside \nSunday\, April 19; 3 pm – Materials \nFilm Screening \nEames: The Architect and the Painter \nTuesday\, April 14 at 6 pm \nFree admission \nA feature-length documentary that explores the groundbreaking partnership of Charles and Ray Eames\, the husband-and-wife team who transformed modern design in America\, playfully blurring the boundaries between art and architecture. The film traces their creative collaboration from their iconic molded plywood and fiberglass furniture to films\, exhibitions\, and architectural projects\, revealing how their shared curiosity and disciplined practice reshaped the way we experience design. \nEmerging Visions: \nAn exhibition of student work from the 2025 High School Architecture Summer Camp \nPresented by AIA Fort Worth \nFriday\, April 17\, 5–8 pm and Saturday\, April 18\, 10 am–5 pm \nEducation Studio \nFree admission \nCelebrate creativity\, innovation\, and the future of design! We’re proud to showcase the work of talented high school students from across North Texas. These young designers have poured imagination and effort into their projects\, exploring architecture and the built environment. Each piece reflects originality\, a thoughtful design process\, and strong presentation—offering a glimpse into the next generation of creative professionals. Explore their work and see what’s possible when young minds tackle big ideas. \nThe showcase will be on view in the Education Studio during our family program\, Box City. \nThis program exhibition is presented as part of AIA National Architecture Week. The camp and program exhibition were funded\, in part\, by a grant from the AIA College of Fellows.
