Jim Austin Online is excited to announce a full month of events celebrating Juneteenth! The National Juneteenth Virtual Heritage Festival runs Wednesday, June 15 – Saturday, June 25, 2022! 

Business opportunities will be booming at the kick-off Mega-Mixer at Texas Live! on Wednesday, June 15th. Business owners and professionals are encouraged to attend this area wide networking event. Attendees will enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and door prizes while building relationships and their brand! World Famous “Mr. T” Impersonator Sterling Hunter will be the guest speaker for the evening. The Mega-Mixer will take place at Troy’s at Texas Live! located at 1650 E. On Thursday, June 16th, Jim Austin Online will honor Tarrant County College Alumni at the Juneteenth Legends Awards Gala benefitting the Tarrant County College Foundation. This extraordinary night of music and recognition will raise funds for the TCCD Scholarship Fund. This year’s honorees are CHEF KARRIEM (Arts & Entertainment), DR. CARRIE TUNSON (Education), MS. LILLIE BIGGINS (Healthcare), MS. NICOLE COLLIER (Politics) and DR. GWEN MORRISON (Capstone Award/Ms. Erma Johnson Hadley Award). Iconic Jazz Saxophonist JOSEPH VINCELLI will provide the evening’s entertainment. The awards gala will take place in Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theatre located at 2401 N. Howard Hill’s Yester Day’s Children Show & Review will light up the stage at the Isis Theatre on Friday, June 17th! Don’t miss this rip-roaring, foot stomping Southern Soul and Blues Musical Review. On Saturday, June 18th, individuals will have the opportunity to be inspired by internationally renown motivational speaker and entrepreneur STEDMAN GRAHAM in an exciting lecture series. Graham is the best-selling author of several self-help books including You Can Make it Happen: A Nine Step Plan for Success and Identity Leadership: To Lead Others, You Must First Lead Yourself. During his tenure with B&C Associates, a public relations firm, he worked on behalf of Black causes and represented such high-profile clients as Maya Angelou and Winnie Mandela. Graham is also the founder of Athlete’s Against Drugs, a non-profit organization that provides services to youth and has awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships since its founding in 1985. It also arranged for sports figures to educate children about substance abuse. He is also a member of the Indiana Broadcasting Hall of Fame. Graham will be speaking in Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theatre at 1 PM and 7 PM. The annual Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo: Texas Connection Series charges into Cowtown Coliseum located at 121 E. Exchange Avenue, Fort Worth, TX, 76164 on Saturday June 18th with shows at 1:30 PM and 7 PM. Theatre lovers are in for a treat on Sunday, June 19th when Finally, Free at Last! is performed live on stage at the Isis Theatre! Writer and director Dion Hood is thrilled to present this exciting story of how Texas slaves did not know that they were free until after the war ended in the spring of 1865, when General Granger arrived in Galveston that June signaling freedom for Texas’s 250,000 enslaved people. Thus, Juneteenth was born and in December of that same year, slavery was formally abolished with the adoption of the 13th Amendment. “We are thrilled to present this powerful new stage play in its debut performance,” says promoter Jim Austin. “Finally, Free at Last is a soul-stirring, musical trek through our nation’s journey towards equality for people of all races and ethnic backgrounds.”  Finally Free! The month of celebrations concludes on June 25th, with the Juneteenth Health Expo! Families and individuals are encouraged to come out for free COVID screenings and booster shots! The expo runs from 11 AM to 4 PM at The Warehouse located at 1125 E. Berry Street, Fort Worth, TX, 76110, and features entertainment throughout the day and prize drawings!
