Fort Worth’s art scene is a really big deal, and a major part of that fame is due to our Cultural District. We’ve been watching Fort Worth’s major museums closely, eagerly anticipating reopening details. This just came through from The Kimbell Art Museum, and we can’t wait to drop by.
The Kimbell will reopen to patrons on Saturday, June 20, with member preview days beginning Thursday, June 18. The museum has instituted new guidelines for staff and visitors that support state and local health and safety recommendations. While we pride ourselves on visitors’ personal experience and engagement in the museum, our new health and safety measures require the temporary suspension of certain activities and accommodations, as well as the addition of new visitor guidelines and staff protocols. Know Before You Go: Visitor Guidelines
If you’re sick, stay home.
For the safety of all visitors and staff, anyone who is sick or has any sign of a respiratory illness should stay home.
Wear a mask
All visitors (ages 2 and up) are required to wear a mask during their visit to the Kimbell. Masks are available upon request. All Kimbell staff are required to wear masks.
Social distancing
Visitors and staff must allow six feet of separation between themselves and others. The museum has signage and other visual reminders to ensure visitors maintain a safe social distance.
Bring your own device
Audio wands are no longer available for lease. Visitors are encouraged to download the Kimbell app (iTunes • Google Play) on their personal device and bring headphones to experience audio tours of the permanent collection and special exhibition.
Temporary suspensions
The Kimbell Buffet and Piano Café will be temporarily closed. An exhibition shop will be open in the Piano Pavilion with limited offerings.
The north and west galleries and the lower level of the Piano Pavilion are closed.
Parcel check is closed. No large bags or backpacks are allowed. Soft-front baby carriers and strollers are allowed.
The special assistance vehicle that transports visitors between the two buildings will be temporarily suspended to maintain social distancing.
Visitors who need additional assistance can visit the accessibility webpage or call 817-332-8451 during regular museum hours for assistance.
Drinking fountains are not available. Bottled water is available for purchase at the exhibition shop in the Piano Pavilion.
Family drop-in spaces, including Studio A, are temporarily closed.
All on-site programs and events are cancelled until further notice. Please check the calendar for online programs.
Limited capacity
In accordance with local and state guidelines, capacity in the galleries is limited to allow for appropriate social distancing.
Sanitizing stations
Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the buildings. Custodial staff have increased their cleaning frequency among high-touch locations.
Visitor compliance
Visitors are asked to comply with all Kimbell signage and personnel requests. The safety and comfort of our entire community is our top priority.
