VETERAN’S DAY 2021
Thursday, November 11th
Tarrant County Veteran’s Memorial Motorcade
Downtown Fort Worth 11am
Bells will toll in communities across the country – in places of worship, schools, town halls, and cemeteries – to mark Veterans Day. Locally, bells will toll to launch the Veterans Day parade, hosted by the City of Fort Worth and organized by the Tarrant County Veterans Council (TCVC). A military flyover about 11 a.m. will kick off the Veterans Day parade. A motorcade will then roll down North Forest Park Blvd. along the Clear Fork section of the Trinity Trails system to Rotary Plaza., then back to Panther Island. Spectators can picnic along the Trinity River while viewing the parade on the west side of downtown Fort Worth.

Stage West Theatre celebrates Veterans with War Words
Wednesday, November 10th & Thursday, November 11th at 6:30pm
Stage West, along with the Atlantic Council, is proud to present an abbreviated reading of the Pulitzer-nominated play War Words by Michelle Kholos Brooks, as part of a nationwide event which celebrates, honors, and recognizes the men and women of our military. The play is a work of docu-theatre, which chronicles the funny, strange, heroic, and heartbreaking stories of military service people who served in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, based on interviews with veterans of those wars and their families. Commending the play, the Council’s board director General (Ret.) David Petraeus says, “Few movies or plays have ever captured for me as powerfully as War Words . . . the experiences of American veterans, especially those who have served in uniform since 9/11.”

No Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade in 2021
Even though there will be no Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade this year, the good news is that the City of Dallas has declared that Veterans Day will henceforth, be a City Holiday. The Greater Dallas Veterans Foundation (GDVF) would appreciate your support with making those around you aware of Veterans Day, and the need to honor our veterans. We know when communities have meaningful ways to honor and appreciate veterans, they become inspired and engaged.
The 2021 GDVF theme is “Commemorating Operation Enduring Freedom”, which was the military response to 9/11 twenty years ago. This year, we are happy to welcome the brave men and women who honorably and selflessly served America in Afghanistan over the last two decades.
Our GDVF 20-25 minute 2021 themed virtual celebration video will be available on the GDVF website on November 1. You are encouraged to view this video, and use it for any event or activity you would like. In November it can be found at greaterdallasveteransfoundation.org under the “2021 Theme and Events” tab. If desired, use this link and let the Foundation know if you would like to involve us in another way to honor the veterans in your community, school, or organization. GDVF provides opportunities like our Virtual Celebration for you to recognize and support veterans, and their ideal of “service above self”.
