The GM Financial Parade of Lights begins at 6:00 PM at the intersection of Weatherford and Throckmorton Streets. The parade proceeds east along Weatherford Street, turns south on Commerce and goes all the way to 9th Street. At 9th Street the parade turns west, proceeds past the Convention Center to Houston St., and then turns north on Houston Street to 2nd St.  The final turns for the parade are west on 2nd St. to Throckmorton Street, and south to 3rd St. where the parade will end. Tayla Lynn and Tre Twitty have country music in their blood. The grandchildren of famed duo Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, the two have taken to the road to honor their grandparents in an intimate evening of music and storytelling.

Through their memories of Memaw and Poppy, as they call their grandparents, the show takes on the quality of a family get together, and it often feels more like one is on the front porch with guitars and old family hymns than it does a concert. It is a fascinating opportunity to see two of country musics greatest legends through their grandchildren’s eyes. The high-energy, heartfelt show highlights not only the bond Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty had as best friends and musical partners, but the unique bond Tayla and Tre have formed through years of an intertwined family history and their own musical relationship.

Dallas is married, and a successful Ford company corporate executive in Detroit. She is in a loving relationship and though her husband was laid off, she loves him, respects him and works with him. Candace is a budding rapper working as a stripper to make enough money for her demo.

From November 18 through January 8, Lightscape will illuminate evenings at the Garden with more than one million holiday lights, tunnels, fire, sculptures, bluebonnets, and artistic installations throughout a spectacular one-mile winding walking trail.

Following sold-out runs in the world’s largest cities including London, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, the internationally acclaimed Lightscape is coming to Fort Worth for the 2022 holiday season. Taking place within the 120-acre Fort Worth Botanic Garden and set along a beautifully illuminated walking trail custom-designed for Fort Worth, Lightscape will feature spectacular artistic installations that come to life after dark with color, imagination, and sound.

The 2022 Arlington Holiday Lights Parade will brighten Downtown Saturday, December 10!

Bring your friends and family to the Downtown/University District to enjoy the Annual Holiday Lights Parade. Thousands of people will gather for the pageantry which is followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Don’t forget to bring your camera and take a picture with Santa before the parade at the Library at 100 S Center Street or after the tree lighting at the Founders Plaza at 100 W Abram Street.

Parade will continue as planned rain, snow, or shine… but not ice!

    Texas Ballet Theater Presents Annual Production of The Nutcracker

    Texas Ballet Theater (TBT) will present Artistic Director Laureate Ben Stevenson, O.B.E.’s The Nutcracker November 25 – December 4 at Winspear Opera House in Dallas and December 9-24 at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth.

    This family-friendly ballet features the classic Nutcracker story, festive choreography and elaborate sets to put patrons in the holiday spirit. The show also includes special effects to enhance the production, including snow falling on stage.

    The company will perform eight times at Winspear Opera House before moving to Bass Performance Hall, where they will present an additional 19 performances.

    Many of our dancers will dance multiple roles and some are stepping into new roles for the first time this year,” Acting Artistic Director Tim O’Keefe said. “It’s exciting to see dancers expand their repertoire and take on new opportunities and I know you’ll be able to see their excitement on stage.”

    The nonprofit ballet company will also offer a pre-show Kingdom of Sweets activity area for children attending matinee performances on November 26 and December 3, 10 and 17. Activities include coloring, crafts, and themed items to take home. Kingdom of Sweets is sponsored by WFAA.

    Saluting Buffalo Soldiders is the theme of the 2022 Tarrant County Veterans Day Parade. This year’s celebration steps off on Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m.

    Participants will form up in the Fort Worth Panther Island Pavilion parking lot, march down North Forest Park Blvd. along the Clear Fork of the Trinity River and return.

    “Everyone can join in our salute to Buffalo Soldiers and all military veterans who have, are and will continue to make great contributions,” notes Parade Chairman Ken Cox. “On this website you can learn how to support, volunteer, and take part. “Will you consider joining this year’s celebration?” Cox asks. “If you’re not available, please help us spread the word… and we hope y’all can join our Cowtown salute on Veterans Day.”

    The theme of this year’s Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade is “Proud to be An American”. This theme is taken from Lee Greenwood’s popular song “God Bless the U.S.A.” which emphasizes the freedoms we have in these United States of America and the fact that it has been earned and must be defended.

    What do we think of when we think of being proud to be an American? We might rightly so think of the Fourth of July—picnics, parades, fireworks, patriotic music and many, many flags. We might also think of other holidays where we have friends and family gatherings and celebrations—Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Cinco de mayo, and birthday parties of all ages. We might think of vacations and the ability and freedom to drive or fly anywhere in the United States and other free countries. We might think of having an abundance of food to eat, clothes to wear, shelter to warm and cool us and good, clean water to drink. And most importantly we have the freedom to worship as we please.

    This song emphasizes the freedoms we have in these United States of America and the fact that they have been earned and must be defended. These freedoms are outlined in the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights.

    The Declaration of Independence declares that we are a nation where all men and women are created equal and are “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” The declaration goes on to address the grievances the colonies had against the King of Great Britain and ends with the pronouncement that the Colonies are free and independent states and are free of allegiance to the British Crown and have full power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do.

    The Constitution of the United States contains seven articles including 27 amendments and the Bill of Rights. It describes how the new states are to operate and establishes the Legislative, Executive and Judicial Branches of government. The Bill of Rights are the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution and establishes the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today.

    The democracy we live in today is due to these instruments. It has been defended by our men and women in uniform and their support at home many times in our country’s almost 250 years of existence. This starts with the American Revolution and carries on with the War of 1812, Mexican War, the Civil War, the Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the Global War on Terrorism and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

    Now we are watching the Russian-Ukraine War and are ready to defend our freedom as well as many other peace loving nations if necessary. Our men and women in uniform are ready to serve and protect us and the nation we live in. Let Freedom Ring as the song so patriotically says.

    Treat Street Stockyards Spooktacular Halloween Festival

    Swap your cowboy hat for a witch’s broom and head to the Fort Worth Stockyards for the Treat Street Stockyards Spooktacular Halloween Festival. Children 12 and under wearing costumes can get their candy fix trick-or-treating at participating Mule Alley and Stockyards Station retailers sporting a pumpkin in their windows. At the costume contest, ghosts, goblins and ghouls are invited to walk the runway and compete for goodie bags filled with spooky surprises at 6:15 (ages 0-5) and 6:30 p.m. (ages 6-12). Other activities include face painting and the Legends of Texas Spooktacular, a comedy Halloween-themed gunfight show starring some of the season’s most sinister monsters. Learn more HERE.

    Tickets are on sale now for Fort Worth Oktoberfest – a three-day Munich-style celebration of German culture. Early online ticket purchases are guaranteed a free 2022 commemorative Oktoberfest stein.

    Fort Worth Oktoberfest guests enjoy traditional German food, bier, live music, dancing, shopping vendors and much more. The festival kicks off with Thursday’s ceremonial ‘Tapping of the Kegs’ and the fun continues through Saturday with carnival rides, dachshund races, bier barrel rolling, stein hoist competitions, the Oktoberfest Run und Ride and more.

    Entertainment will include German polka and party bands, on multiple stages. This year’s lineup includes Grammy nominated Alex Meixner, Alpenmusikanten, Chardon Polka Band, Das Ist Lustig, Ginny Mac, Mike and the Middletones, Walburg Boys, Nick Ballarini and Keine Kunst Folk Dance Troupe.

    Spaten will be on tap, along with other Fall and Oktoberfest craft beers. Traditional German food offerings such as bratwursts, pretzels, strudel, schnitzel and German potato pancakes will also be available. Festival goers can enjoy the air-conditioned Spaten Hall as well as multiple outdoor and tented biergartens. Shopping vendors will be on hand with traditional German Lederhosen and Dirndls and a variety of other German accessories.

    Festival tickets range from $10-$20 and are available for purchase online through September 24. Advance tickets are guaranteed a free 2022 commemorative Oktoberfest stein. While supplies last, a limited number of steins will be available for tickets purchased at the gate. Admission is free for children under 12 years of age with a paying adult.
