PERFORMING ARTS FORT WORTH ANNOUNCES NEW STREAMING PRODUCTION OF DIXIE’S HAPPY HOUR

Fort Worth, Texas

Performing Arts Fort Worth, the non-profit owner and operator of Bass Performance Hall, announced today a brand-new digital streaming show from the creators of the smash off-Broadway tour DIXIE’S TUPPERWARE PARTY, which has played to sold-out houses at Bass Hall’s McDavid Studio.

It’s an uplifting story that challenges the audience to search for their personal happy hours by looking for the good in even the most complicated situations.

About Billy Bob’s Texas:

Located in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, the 100,000 square foot cattle barn became Billy Bob’s Texas in 1981. Since then, more than 17 million visitors have enjoyed live entertainment and real bull riding at “The World’s Largest Honky Tonk”.

The facility has been host to hundreds of musical acts, from Alan Jackson to ZZ Top. On Fridays and Saturdays, the venue also features live bull riding – a step up from the mechanical variety. It seems like an unlikely source for a series that has sold millions of albums.

Billy Bob’s has been named the Country Music Club of the Year 10 times by the Academy of Country Music.

Margarita Day 2021

Margarita Day 2021

Margarita Day 2021 is February 22!

Last year at this time, we barely knew what the coronavirus was, figured it was something that China had to worry about.  We approached Margarita Day like any other drinking holiday and pardon the pun, “Drank it Up”.

Even though there is hope in the air now, and we can see a glimpse of normalcy in the future, we invite you to approach Margarita Day with extra vigor and fortitude.  Let’s use Margarita Day as our opportunity to drown all of our COVID memories.

At What’s Up Fort Worth, we ask you to social distance and “Mask Off and Drink Up”.  Pick from one of the top margarita joints in The Fort.  You, our followers, created this list so enjoy!

Here is your Top 10 List and More:

#1 Joe T Garcia’s
#2 Rio Mambo
#3 Wild Salsa

#5 Torchy’s Tacos

Welterweight Showdown at Dickies Arena

Welterweight Showdown at Dickies Arena

Tickets On Sale Friday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com

The highly anticipated welterweight showdown between rising knockout artist Vergil Ortiz Jr. (16-0, 16 KOs) and former world champion Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (27-1-3, 19 KOs) will take place at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

The event, which is stacked from top to bottom with competitive undercard bouts, will take place Saturday, March 20 and will be streamed live exclusively on DAZN worldwide, including the U.S., Mexico and Russia.

“It’s rare that two fighters get to square off in front of their hometown fans, but with Dickies Arena just down the road from where both Vergil and Mo were born, this venue is exactly the right place for this fight,” said Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy. “With a likely world championship opportunity at stake in front of friends and family, this is a guaranteed action fight to see either in person or on the DAZN app.”

“I’m very happy to be fighting in front of my friends, family, and fans back at home again,” said Vergil Ortiz Jr. “Dickies Arena is a perfect sized venue, and it looks like it will be able to hold a substantial number of fans, so everybody needs to come out and support all the fighters. I’m really hyped for this fight.”

“I’m excited to be fighting so close to home where my family, friends and hometown fans can come out and support my return to the ring,” said Maurice Hooker. “With Vergil and I both being from the Dallas area, this is a fight that had to happen in the DFW metroplex. We are going to put on one hell of a show for all of our hometown fans on March 20 at Dickies Arena.”

As announced previously, the Ortiz vs. Hooker undercard will be stacked from top to bottom with highly competitive matchups.

In the co-main event, Arslanbek “Lion” Makhmudov (11-0, 11 KOs) will make his highly anticipated United States debut in a 10-round defense of his NABF heavyweight title in a bout presented by Golden Boy and Eye of the Tiger Management.

Two-division champion Anabel “Avispa” Ortiz (31-3, 4 KOs) of Mexico City, Mexico and former flyweight champion Seniesa “Superbad” Estrada (19-0, 8 KOs) of East Los Angeles, California will meet in an epic 10-round fight for Ortiz’s WBA Minimumweight World Title.

Luis “Matador” Hernandez (21-0, 19 KOs) of Chihuahua, Mexico will participate in a 10-round super lightweight battle against Alex Martin (15-3, 6 KOs) of Chicago, Illinois.

George Rincon (10-0, 7 KOs) of Dallas, Texas will return in an eight-round super lightweight fight.

Hector Valdez (13-0, 8 KOs) of Dallas, Texas will face Alberto Torres (11-3-3, 4 KOs) of Sacramento, California in an eight-round super bantamweight battle.

Oscar Acevedo (7-0) of Garden City, Kansas and James “Crunch Time” Willkins (9-1-0, 6 KOs) of Staten Island, New York will meet in an eight-round super featherweight bout between two Golden Boy prospects.

Tristan Kalkreuth (7-0, 6 KOs) of Duncanville, Texas will return in a six-round fight in the cruiserweight division.

Opponents for Rincon and Kalkreuth will be announced shortly.

Ortiz Jr. vs Hooker is a 12-round fight for the WBO International Welterweight Championship presented by Golden Boy. The event is sponsored by Hennessy “Never Stop. Never Settle” and “BetOnline – Your Online Sportsbook Experts.” The fight will take place on Saturday, March 20 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas and will be streamed live exclusively on DAZN worldwide, including the U.S., Mexico and Russia.

William Campbell Contemporary Art Announces New Ownership

William Campbell Contemporary Art Announces New Ownership

The Storied Fort Worth Gallery Begins a New Chapter

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Fort Worth’s renowned and enduring art gallery, William Campbell Contemporary Art, transitioned to new ownership in December of 2020. Pam and Bill Campbell, who have owned and operated the gallery and frame shop on Byers Avenue for forty-six years, transferred their legacy as purveyors and stewards of contemporary art to new hands.

Fort Worth Contemporary Art Partners has purchased William Campbell Contemporary Art and Gallery One Frames. FWCAP founders are Jadz Pate, Clayton Snodgrass, Tim Locke, J.W. Wilson, and Peeler Howell. Howell has worked as the Campbells’ gallery assistant since August 2017, and will continue to manage day-to-day operations.

“Fort Worth Contemporary Art Partners has no desire to do anything fundamentally different from what Bill and Pam have created over the last forty-six years,” said Howell. “We want to continue to cultivate the relationships they have created with the artists, clients, and customers, and anybody that has an interest in contemporary art, or art in general. Bill and Pam have been ideal mentors, and will continue to be so.”

As much fixtures in the Metroplex art scene as their brick-and-mortar space, Pam and Bill Campbell have made an indelible imprint on the Fort Worth art community, championing contemporary artists and making their work accessible to a broad audience base.

“Though we are going to really miss seeing our clients on a regular basis-many who have become such great friends over the years-and working with our artists who are like family to us, we couldn’t have wished for a better scenario,” said the Campbells. “We are excited to see William Campbell Contemporary Art continue beyond our retirement and look forward to the gallery’s future in Peeler and his partners’ extraordinary and talented hands.”

As the gallery changes hands, patrons will notice very little difference aside from a fresh set of legs. The Campbell name will remain as homage to its founders, as will the location and stable of artists. “We will carry the Campbell torch forward into the future while always honoring its past,” Wilson said.

The new owners believe in the mission set forth by the Campbells more than four decades ago, and remain dedicated to upholding the values that have made William Campbell Contemporary Art a Fort Worth institution. “We are committed to exhibiting the same quality of art and service that Fort Worth has grown accustomed to,” they said.
