Here’s the list the What’s Up staff came up with.  BRUNCH…and other fun things to do with Mom!

1. Mother’s Day Brunch at….Home

It’s time to step up Guys and Kiddos—

Here’s a fun twist on Mother’s Day Brunch

Make all of Mom’s favorite brunch goodies, turn off the television, phones, Everything!  Make mimosas, order flowers, what else does Mom like?

Then when you think you have done enough, turn on her favorite movie and either 1) Enjoy it with her, or 2) Get lost and let her enjoy it alone.  Let Mom decide whether #1 or #2 work better for her.

2. Pick Your Favorite Mother’s Day Brunch Spot in Fort Worth

If you are not so adventurous to create your own Brunch for Mom, Fort Worth Foodies offers this list……..

3. Enjoy a Stroll or Bike Ride Along the Trinity Trails

The Trinity Trails is always a great family outing.  Extending through Fort Worth for over 70 miles along the Trinity River, The Trinity Trails is a wonderful trek for hikers, bikers, runners, and horseback riders and a special outing with Mom.

https://www.fortworth.com/things-to-do/outdoor-recreation/trinity-trails/

4. Every Mom loves flowers!

Here’s an idea that doesn’t take any social distancing thought to it.  Order Mom flowers or a beautiful spring flower arrangement.  What’s Up staffers use Gordon Boswell Florist.

https://www.gordonboswell.com/occasions/mothers-day-flower-delivery-fort-worth/

5.  Enjoy a Winery Tour and a Glass of Wine with Mom

Cowtown Winery, located on Mule Alley in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards,  offers a  sneak peek behind the scenes at Cowtown Winery! See how it all happens and let the wine maker walk you through a journey of turning juice from the grape into your favorite wine! You will see all the equipment, learn the different processes it takes, discuss the vineyards and of course sample a couple of wines. With the tour you will receive a souvenir wine glass and two glasses of wine. Cowtown Winery offers tours on select Saturdays at 3:00 pm

https://www.cowtownwinery.com/winery-tours-index#winery-tours

6. Indulge in Some Retail Therapy with Mom

Every mom has “a thing” or favorite store.  Treat your mom to an afternoon of safe, social distanced shopping and buy her something nice, something she would not have bought for herself.   Be safe and Buy Local.  That makes Mom happy and keeps the Fort retail wheels turning.  #Support Our Fort.  We love supporting Fort Worth businesses so that’s always a Bonus.  A good day of shopping is always followed by a good glass of wine at your favorite spot.   See #5!

7. Host Your Own SIP and PAINT Class

Bring some creative fun home by buying some art supplies and opening a bottle of your finest Cab. Pick a subject (like the fruit bowl on your kitchen counter or Dad lounging on the sofa) and start painting. Just don’t expect  Mom to hang your work of art in the living room?  Don’t like the PAINT part of this idea, no problem…..Host Your Own Sip and Sit with Mom.  How’s that?

8. Give Mom a Mani-Pedi

Treat Mom to a little pampering to encourage mother-daughter bonding. You’re out with Mom and  pampering her (and yourself).  Doesn’t that feel good?

9. GARDEN TOGETHER

Stop by your favorite garden center, back to #Support the Fort, and plan a day of gardening with Mom.  It can be as intense or light as you want.  It might end up with a nice Sip and Sit with Mom on the back porch…and that’s always a good thing!

10. Adopt an African Penguin for Mom

Celebrate Mom all year long with an African penguin adoption from the Fort Worth Zoo. This adoption includes an African penguin plush, a personalized adoption certificate, an animal fact sheet, a coloring kit and a zoo publication all packaged inside of an animal carrier box! This unique gift is the perfect way to show your appreciation for Mom while supporting the care and feeding of the animals at the Fort Worth Zoo.

https://www.fortworthzoo.org/mothers-day-adoption-package

11.  Plan a Game Night for Mom

You know what games Mom likes to play—card games, board games, charades, or any other party game.  If Mom likes it, let’s play it!

12.  No Work Pass

OK this should be a given.  Moms do not work on Mother’s Day.  If your mom tries to participate in work activities,  present her with a “No Work Pass” for the day.  Sit her down and take over.

13. Custom Coupons for Mom

Put  a coupon book together for things that you  and Mom can do together, for her day and for the next few months.  Can you ever spend enough time with Mom?   Ideas are easy—lunch and a movie, a wine outing or Happy Hour, a spa day.  The list is endless and it gives Mom lots more things to look forward to.

After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID19 pandemic, Mayfest is bringing back all the cherished aspects of the festival – exciting attractions, delectable food and beverage, an expanded carnival, hours of live music and entertainment and fun for the whole family. Now more than ever, we look forward to celebrating Mayfest by bringing people together along the banks of the Trinity River.

50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
